RPR (VIMH): What do the lyrics talk about? Which are your major lyrics’ influences?
D.I.G.: The lyrics for the single “in the blink of an eye” is about trying to break out of your daily routine and do the things you want to do! Because it could all be over in the blink of an eye. Lyrics is a bit tricky, we write in English and it´s not our native language. I try to write lyrics with a positive vibe.
RPR (VIMH): Which are those elements that separate your new album from your previous albums?
D.I.G.: I can talk about our upcoming album that will be out late 2020 or early 2021.
We have about 70% of the material done right now. Compared to our first album this will “out of this world”, we grown so much as players and as a band since the 2015 release. So I think this will be our best work to date. Compared to the latest EP from 2018 it will be heavier. Our latest EP was more “classic rock” vibe to it! Which I think is great because we like to mix things up a bit. But the new album will focus a lot on our heavier side BUT still melodic ☺
RPR (VIMH): What are your expectations from the new album?
D.I.G.: Expectations are high! This will be the first album with our new drummer Jonathan! So that’s something new and fresh. I hope this album will gain a bit more attention and give us some more fans.
RPR (VIMH): Please elaborate on how your music is distributed, considering you are independent.
D.I.G.: We are an independent band, so we record and release all of our music by ourselves.
RPR (VIMH): How’s the fans’ reactions been to the new songs on your live shows so far?
D.I.G.: The latest single “In the blink of an eye” did really well for us on YouTube! (by our standards). It took “in the blink of an eye” about 2-3 weeks to reach 1000 views and the single before that needed about 6-7 months to do the same :p so small steps forward so to speak. We haven’t really had a chance to do any live shows since the corona thing happened. But man we are eager to get out and play new stuff!
RPR (VIMH): Do you prefer to be on the road or on the studio writing and recording?
D.I.G.: I really love the studio! That’s were I'm at my best :p but playing live is something that is so much fun as well! If you get a great audience you can live on that energy for a long time ☺
RPR (VIMH): How did you come up with the name D.I.G initially?
D.I.G.: Well at a drunken Christmas party, D.I.G is “dopp i grytan” on Swedish and means “dipp in the kettle” it´s a Swedish Christmas thing.
RPR (VIMH): How would you describe your music style to someone that hasn’t heard of you before?
D.I.G.: Heavy and melodic! With a mix of modern and classic rock. I think that is a good description haha
RPR (VIMH): Which do you consider to be the best male & female vocalist in metal history?
D.I.G.: Wow, so hard! Right now I would say Dug Pinnick from King´s X and best female would be the lead singer from the Swedish band Thundermother! She rocks!
RPR (VIMH): Which is the record you wish you had written and why?
D.I.G.: The second Alter Bridge album “Blackbird” it a great record! Heavy, melodic and also calm and beautiful. Great solos from Mark Tremonti! If we would have made that album we could probably live on the music haha.
RPR (VIMH): Were you obliged to give just one album to extraterrestrials that would represent the whole human music, which album would it be and from which band/artist?
D.I.G.: Wouldn't the Europe album “out of this world” be fitting for an alien race!
No but its super hard! Maybe the latest Tool album could be a cool album to give them
RPR (VIMH): If you had the chance to travel in time… where would you choose to go? To the past or the future and why?
D.I.G.: The future. I like things from the past and more BUT I don’t like thinking “it was better before” sure heavy music was more popular and there were great bands but the best time is always right now, so the future is more compelling for me! Maybe I could travel into the future were heavy music is popular again! Cause it will happen, I promise.
